School spirit takes on a global dimension!

Cova’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs are making an impact in schools across Central America—and students in Minnesota are part of that story! While heading back to their own classrooms this fall, young changemakers have also been focused on ensuring safe water flows in schools far beyond their borders.

In partnership with H2O for Life, Cova’s school WASH program has been supported by Minnesota students since 2019. Their commitment as global citizens is helping bring safe water systems and education to schools in Honduras. Just this past year, ten Minnesota schools rallied together to raise funds for water systems in five schools where harmful bacteria in the drinking water left students vulnerable to illnesses.

Thanks to these efforts, more children in Honduras now enjoy classrooms with clean water close at hand and brighter futures within reach. Collective action can be as simple as coin drives, lemonade stands, and water walks! Sharing a passion and inspiring others to get involved proves that when many hands join together, lasting change is possible.

We are grateful for the engaged young people raising awareness and supporting WASH projects globally. The creativity and determination of Minnesota students remind us that the next generation isn’t waiting to make a difference—they’re already helping to solve the global water crisis. And we couldn’t be more proud!
