Rebrand FAQ

We energetically began our work in Central America in 2008 operating under the name EOS International. In April 2024, we started conducting our critical work of providing access to safe drinking water under the new name of Cova.

We believe it is crucial to our success and impact as an organization to clearly communicate with our diverse audiences across four countries, including nearly one and half million customers in over two thousand communities in Central America, in addition to our thousands of donors and partners across the globe. We wanted to create a brand that spoke to our work, while having a memorable name that is easily pronounced in different languages.

Over the past 16 years, our organization has grown considerably, and with it, our mission and audiences have also evolved. When we started over a decade ago, our focus was on improving the health, wealth, and environment of those in Nicaragua through low-cost technology solutions. Starting in 2016, we made the strategic decision to concentrate our work on providing rural communities with access to safe drinking water.

Our growth into Honduras and El Salvador, in combination with the merging of ADEC in 2018, another safe water nonprofit, gave us the unique opportunity to analyze and reevaluate our existing brand and messaging.

Because of the Covalent Bond, of course!

Much like hydrogen and oxygen need one another to form a covalent bond to create water, Cova relies on successful partnerships to provide comprehensive safe drinking water solutions to rural communities in Central America.

After receiving proposals to our rebrand RFP, our organization met with local and global marketing agencies to determine the best fit for our needs. After careful consideration, we selected 5IVE, an award-winning, Minneapolis-based branding agency specializing in nonprofit and mission-oriented organizations. 5IVE’s amazing team generously provided pro-bono time and expertise to make Cova’s rebrand a success.

This comprehensive and meticulous process involved voices from our teams in Central America and the United States in addition to our board of directors. After a year of creative and strategic brainstorming, planning, and transition, we are thrilled to implement our new brand identity.

We are the same dedicated team conducting the same critical work with the same proven impact, just with a new name. We appreciate your continued life-changing support and investment in safe water.
