Two Million People

In Cova in the News, Impact Update

Today we celebrate a major milestone! Two million people is a lot of people reached with safe water! Most of them, we’ll never meet. And that’s exactly how lasting change should work.

Milestones have a way of inviting reflection.

Over the years, our team has visited communities across Central America, joining water board meetings, providing hands-on training, helping children learn about safe water, and sharing conversations around kitchen tables. We’ve had the privilege of witnessing what safe water makes possible. Those are the stories we’ve been fortunate to share. But they are only part of the story.

Most of this story happens without us. And that’s by design.

After the water treatment system is installed and the training is complete, Cova’s role shifts. Communities take the lead. Cova remains a trusted source of support when challenges arise.

The story continues when a water board gathers independently to review finances and plan for the months ahead. It continues when a local technician, trained by Cova, repairs a pipe in a rural community. It continues when a teacher reminds her students to wash their hands, when a volunteer tests chlorine before breakfast, when a family turns on the tap without wondering if the water is safe.

And perhaps that’s what two million people really represents.

This milestone is made up of millions of ordinary moments made possible by years of partnership. Communities leading with confidence. Supporters like you making it possible.

Water Board meetings continue whether we’re in the room or not.

Chlorine tests happen every morning. Pipes are repaired when they break.

Taps turn on every day. Millions of moments we’ll never witness.

And that’s exactly how lasting change should work. That’s something to celebrate!
