We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

  • Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of our Website may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
  • Marketing from the Company. If you do not wish to have your contact information used by the Company to promote our mission, you can opt-out by checking the relevant box located on the donation form or at any other time by sending us an email stating your request to [email protected]. Your choice to opt-out does not apply to information provided to the Company through your future donations.

We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information to serve interest-based advertising. However, these third parties may provide you with ways to choose not to have your information collected or used in this way. You can opt out of receiving targeted ads from members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) on the NAI’s website.

Use of Photos

We may post photos and testimonials of individuals taken during events, impact trips and other engagements to our Website, social media pages, or annual reports. We do not knowingly use such photos for commercial or promotional purposes unless the identifiable individuals in the photos have agreed to such use. You also agree that we may edit or modify the photos for formatting or clarity, provided that such modifications do not materially alter the original content. However, if you would like a photo removed from our Website or a social media post that we control, please send an email with the following detailed information to [email protected]: a link to where the photo is posted, your name, contact information, and the title of the image you wish to have removed.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You can review and change your personal information by sending us an email at [email protected] to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

Donor Bill of Rights

We work to follow the Donor Bill of Rights developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Associations for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits. To address the concerns and challenges arising from Internet charitable giving, Cova Agua also works to follow the eDonor Bill of Rights, developed by the AFP and intended to complement the Donor Bill of Rights.

Retention of Your Personal Information

We keep your personal information for no longer than needed pursuant to a legitimate business purpose. For example, we may retain contact information after you donate to Cova Agua to maintain our internal financial or transactional records, to communicate with you about our relationship, or to deliver marketing communications to you in accordance with applicable law.

The length of time for which we retain information depends on the purposes for which we collected and used it, requirements of applicable laws, the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of the information, the resolution of any pending or threatened disputes, and enforcement of our agreements.

When we no longer require the personal information, we will either delete or deidentify it, or if this is not possible, securely store it in accordance with this Privacy Notice and cease use of the personal information until deletion is possible. If we deidentify your personal information (so that it can no longer be associated with you and thus is no longer considered personal information under relevant laws), we may retain this information for longer periods.

Data Security

We are committed to protecting your personal information. We have implemented measures to safeguard your personal information from accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. All information provided by you is stored on our secure servers, protected by firewalls. However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and therefore, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information. Any transmission of personal information is done at your own risk. We are not responsible for any unauthorized circumvention of our privacy settings or security measures on our website.

Changes to Our Privacy Notice

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Notice at any time to reflect changes in the law, our data collection and use practices, our services, advances in technology, and for other purposes. We will make the revised Privacy Notice accessible through the Website and provide a notice that the Privacy Notice has been updated on the Website home page. Any changes to the Privacy Notice will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Notice. The date the Privacy Notice was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for periodically visiting our Website and this Privacy Notice to check for any changes. Your continued use of the Website and our services following the notice of such changes indicates that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the latest version of the new Privacy Notice. This policy is not intended to, nor does it, create any contractual or legal right in or on behalf of any party, including you.
